The Deer Park ISD Board of Trustees named Tiffany Regan as the lone finalist to fill the District’s superintendent position. The Board took action on the matter at a special meeting tonight.
“The District has a 95-year tradition of choosing strong instructional leaders, and more often than not, they were already part of our team,” Board President Jason Cable said. “On behalf of the School Board, I’m pleased to say that Dr. Regan continues that tradition, and we are confident that she is the right person to lead us into the future.”
The superintendent selection process requires the naming of a lone finalist followed by a 21-day waiting period during which the community can offer feedback. Afterward, the Board can formally name Regan the new superintendent.
Cable said the Board members knew there were talented options within the District, but they also felt a duty to consider outside applicants and find the best lone finalist for the job. The search process included 26 total candidates with four invited for interviews.
“Thankfully, the process confirmed what we already believed to be true: That we have talented candidates right here in Deer Park,” he added. “With gratitude and all due respect to all of the applicants, we think Dr. Regan is the person who will get the job done.”
Regan, a DPHS graduate, began her career in 1995 as a long-term substitute and teacher at Deer Park Elementary. Three years later, she accepted a position as a sixth-grade language arts teacher and coach at Fairmont Junior High. A year later, she moved to Deer Park Junior High, and she was named the school’s assistant principal in 2003 and its principal in 2007. In 2021, she became the District’s assistant superintendent for human resources, and last year, she was named assistant superintendent for instruction.
Regan fills a vacancy left by the impending retirement of current Superintendent Stephen Harrell.
