Soaring Towards Success

Deer Park Elementary was built in 1968 at a cost of $1,100,920, and the building opened for classes on September 2, 1969. The 91,381 square foot school plant was originally built with a totally "open concept" design to accommodate an instructional program which included nongradedness and team teaching. As the year progressed, the nongraded program was dicontinued in favor of a more traditional approach. In addition, walls were built to separate grade levels, maintaining the open concept design within each grade level.
