Feeding the baby birds

Wednesday, October 17th, 2007

About 9:45 each morning little mouthes all around the room begin to chirp the word “snack.”  It is the perfect time for a snack, just before PE and right between breakfast and lunch.

Thank you so much to everyone who has sent snack so far. Our snack cabinet is almost bare, so if you are able to send a class snack we would really appreciate it. Cheap coffee filters for serving, crackers of any kind, cereal of any kind, whatever is easy and affordable. No cookies please. :)

Thank you! We love you!

October 15-19

So sorry for the late post. After much thought, I have decided to use my blog to post my weekly information instead of schoolnotes.com, so everything will be in one place. :) This week we have a review rule for spelling. Ten sentences with one word each for homework. No baby sentences! :)

Today we had our first benchmark…wow! What an awesome bunch of kids we have. Everyone worked really hard.

We will continue to work on writers block for some. :) Talk to your kids about memories. List everything you can think of together. Make a list of “Remember when…”

It is hard for kids to come up with ideas when we write. As I told the kids today, you don’t have to go to Disney World to have a story to write about. You can write about everyday life. If you wrote a story about my kids and me trying to get ready and out the door in the morning, you would have a mini-series full of dramatic crisis!

Give them a hug, pat them on the back, and have a great evening. It was a long day.

Hey kids-

I am proud of each of you!

Love,

Mrs. Beck

What is your all time favorite book?

I love books, but The Pokey Little Puppy has always been a favorite! Sometimes I feel like that puppy when I get distracted from a project. :)

What do you think?

Hey kids-

As we near the 2nd semester, I want to get some input from you. What kind of things are you interested in learning about? Let me know.

Love,

Mrs, Beck

What do you think? Inch and Miles :)

Inch and Miles have been teaching us valuable building blocks for a pyramid of success. What do you think is the most valuable lesson we have learned and why? I can’t wait to hear from each of you. These lessons will help you throughout your whole life! :)

Wow! Time is flying in the fourth grade!

This week we are working on a special read aloud called Inch and Miles, the Journey to Success. Tell your parents about the lessons we are learning from Inch and Miles. Oh, yeah, keep collecting those things we talked about.  :) What is your favorite lesson so far? Send me a blog to let me know.
