Science is Out of this World!
Hi! This is my first blog, so be patient.
We have just started our space unit. We will be reviewing the eight planets–yes, Pluto is no longer considered a planet. So, instead of using the acronym: My Very Energetic Mother Just Served Us Nine Pizzas, we will be using: My Very Energetic Mother Just Served Us Nachos. WOW!
We will be reviewing rotation, revolution, seasons, orbit, tilt, stars, constellations, the sun, as well as the moon.
We will be learning the moon phases and how long it takes to get from one full moon back to the next full moon. The moon has many landforms like the Earth. Can you name ways that the moon is like/not like the Earth? I wonder …….
On Wednesday, we will get to go into the Skylab to look at the night sky free of pollution. I can’t wait!

Pluto is not a planet this year. The definition of a planet keeps changing, so Texas teachers are teaching that Pluto is not a planet. Scientist have made this decision and teachers teach it. We are learning that there are 8 planets: My Very Educated Mother Just Served Us Nachos. That is how we remember them.
Sincerely,
Mrs. R
