Strider by Beverly Cleary

I give this book 5 stars because the way Beverly Cleary wrote this book with passion and jokes. This whole story is mostly about a boy Leigh Botts who finds a dog named Strider and how he trains and takes of him. My favorite part would have to be when Leigh buys this ugly shirt and wears it to school. But when this rich kid named Kevin comes along he starts telling Leigh how this shirt is his shirt. Then Kevin starts chasing Leigh while the whole rest of the school is yelling and cheering. Then one of the teachers asked them if they wanted to try out for track and field but Leigh said no. My least favorite part is when Leigh and Barry start fighting about how Leigh is always keeping Strider for himself. I think Barry wasn't even taking care of Strider because he was always going from place to place to visit family. So he never keeps his promise to help take care of Strider. My opinion on how Leigh wrote that story about the track meet but when wrote it he lied about it. So when he said some of his story really happened, his teach said the whole story had to be true so he might have failed. Finally my thoughs about the book.... I think that the way the book is funny, sad and also romantic and I like this book because it is realistic and it is fiction. I think you should check out this book because it is really AWESOME!! - AnnMarie

I read the book, "Socks" by Beverly Cleary. I would give this book *** because it wasn't really great. My favorite part of the book was when Charles Williams [the baby] tried to entertain Socks. [the cat] He ripping up his own crib and then locked himself in. It was HILARIOUS!IN the end Socks becomes an inside cat. AGAIN!

I read the book Dear Mr. Henshaw by Beverly Cleary and I liked it. The main character Leigh, lives with his mother. His parents got a divorce and his dad took his dog with him because he was a trucker and would not get lonely. Leigh was said that his parents were not together but by the end, he was ok with it. His dad lost his dog and when he was on the CB radio and talked with the other truckers he then found Leigh's dog. Than made Leigh happy.

I give this **** it is so funny. My favorite part is when A.J blows his nose and Ms. Hannah wouldn't let him throw it away and she stuck his tussue on her art work. GROSS!!! The whole story A.J and Andrea are fighting the. But in the end they act nice to each other.
