Copyright, web sites and more

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

Hopefully the sharing of your Gauging Student Needs presentations was helpful. We looked at how Wikis work and then went through the presentation and discussion on copyright and citing sources. Don’t forget those resources are available to you on your class CD to use with your classes. There’s also the valuable information and templates for evaluating web sites.

If you’re worried about copyright, don’t forget about using the resources of Creative Commons with your students and the various Creative Commons licenses for use.

You should have started a Works Cited page. We hope you finally managed to get into Google Docs to complete your information. It seems the changeover to the new filter system trapped some of your email invitations to join that site. However, you are listed as one of the collaborators so you should be able to register (using your school district email)  for a free Google account and see that document when you log in.

For next week:

  1. Know what your actual project will be. Look over some of the sample projects on the CD and the Intel website for some ideas and helpful hints on how to design projects.
  2. Think about the requirements you want to see displayed in the student project. These will help you develop your rubric.
  3. Get caught up on anything you are behind on.
  4. Don’t forget to blog.

What’s a Wiki anyway?

A wiki is a web site people can easily edit in a web browser. Commonly used as a collaboration tool, wikis allow users of the web site to write and modify content.
