Arroyo’s Science Blog

It’s almost February and Valentine’ day!   We are currently studying about animals.  We currently have tadpoles and butterflies in the classroom that we have been observing.  We did this to observe the life cycles of each organism.  We are also learning about adaptations,what they are, the different kinds and how they help animals survive in their environment.  .  We also learned about food chains and food webs.  This is a very interesting study and most students enjoy learning about all the topics involved.  Please continue to study vocabulary with your child on a daily basis. 

Another learning activity that we have included in our daily activities is to to include TAKS question review.  We are going over benchmark questions missed and reviewing the information to make sure the students will not make the same mistakes again.  This is in preparation for the March benchmark test as well as the real TAKS test in May.  We also review weather and other common patterns in nature like the moon phases, ocean tides.  Please ask them about it so they can repeat it to you.

Science TAKS May 1, 2008

Just wanted to wish everyone a very Merry christmas and a great holiday season.  Enjoy your time off and be ready to come back to school to finish the year right!  We will have much to do and much to learn.  Rest and enjoy your time.  We have really been working very hard to complete our Earth Science/ Space unit.  We finished by learning about the order of the planets, moon phases, comparing and contrasting moon and Earth features, day and night cycles and the seasons.  We also made “space suits” to travel through the solar system in our school.  We completed our unit by bringing the Space Lab to our library and observed the stars and the moon phases.
